The Sub Regional Qualifier of Drive, Chip & Putt was held at Haggin Oaks on August 21.
The journey to Augusta continues at the Sub-Regional Competition at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex on Monday, August 21st. 120 junior golfers came to Haggin Oaks to test their golf skills in hopes of advancing to the Regional qualifier at Chambers Bay, Washington on September 23rd, 2024. The winning juniors of that event will continue for the final competition on Sunday before the Master Tournament at Augusta National Golf Tournament.
The Drive Chip & Putt contest is free to all participants and is available in all 50 states. Scoring is based on skills in driving, chipping, and putting. This event is open to boys and girls ages 7 – 15. Boys and Girls compete in separate age divisions. Each participant competes in all 3 skills (Drive, Chip & Putt) with 3 shots per skill for a total of 9 shots.
Steven Maita is a local Sacramento player at the age of 11 that participated at Haggin Oaks in the 12-13 age category.
He won 1st Place in his Chipping competition, 2nd Place in his Putting Competition, and WON 1st place overall with a score of 148.
Steven is excited to move to the next level at Chambers Bay Golf Course near Tacoma Washington as this is Steven’s favorite golf course.
Steven is a local junior that participates in several junior tournaments in Northern California.
We will be seeing his name on the leaderboards a lot more.
